Malcolm Lewis: Beautiful, stark, documentary style images of America during the Great Depression. Walker Evans is one of my favorite photographers.

The Moment It Clicks: Photography Secrets From One Of The World's Top Shooters By Joe Mcnally photo
Malcolm Lewis: I'm not a huge fan of the images, so hard for me to get too excited about how they were shot. They all seem to have required extensive lighting. I prefer street photographers who shoot with natural light.

Malcolm Lewis: Mixed reviews from the folks on Amazon, but I enjoyed this fast-paced story of a rick kid dealing drugs to other rich kids in NYC. It's been compared, both favorably and unfavorably, to Brett Easton Ellis' Less Than Zero. I've read both and this is less sophisticated in my view, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Flesh House By Stuart Macbride photo
Malcolm Lewis: The Scottish police track a serial killer on the loose in Aberdeen. “The Flesher” wears a Margaret Thatcher mask and a butcher’s apron and has a butcher’s skill with blades: his victims are professionally bled, skinned, and sectioned. Not for the faint of heart.

If you like Ian Rankin, author of the Rebus books set in Edinburgh, then give Stuart MacBride a shot. I dropped this off at the library and picked up his first two, Cold Granite and Dying Light, for immediate consumption.
Graham King:
Sound horrible. I'm feeling rather unwell just reading your review.

The Facebook Effect photo
Malcolm Lewis: Just started it and I can already tell it's gonna be awesome. If you like technology and intrigued by Facebook's rise from dorm room project in 2004 to the biggest website on the planet today, with an estimated worth of $20B+, then this book is for you. I'll update this review with my final verdict once I finish the book.

Little Scarlet By Walter Mosley photo
Malcolm Lewis: Just started this and already enjoying it.

From Publisher's Weekly: "Set during the Watts riots of 1965, this eighth entry in Mosley's acclaimed Easy Rawlins series (Bad Boy Brawly Brown, etc.) demonstrates the reach and power of the genre, combining a deeply involving mystery with vigorous characterizations and probing commentary about race relations in America."Just finished it. Excellent read. Highly recommended!
