Iphone Otter Box photo
Kim LaFleur: I originally bought the Otter Box iPhone case for my 12 year old son who used his birthday money last year to upgrade to an iPhone. I thought (at $49.95) the Otter Box was a good insurance investment for the phone from drops and sticky fingers that almost always come with a middle school boy. I was absolutely right in my assessment, but the Otter Box has proved it's value many times over this year. Now selling on Amazon at a very reasonable $18.00, the Otter Box looks like an object of military magnitude and I think it would prove itself in a war zone. Good option for protecting an iPhone or iTouch from damage!

Canon Powershot Digital Camera photo
Kim LaFleur: As far as portable cameras go, this is my favorite. I am a Canon advocate from wayback when my dad bought me my very first Canon camera in Jr. High for a photography class. Canon brings the real longtime photography know-how into the digital world vs. other manufacturers who know electronics but are lost on the elements of photography. Good option for a simple use camera for a teenager. Easy to use and affordable.

Amazon Kindle photo
Kim LaFleur:
I was thinking lately that the Amazon Kindle might be fading away as the iPad and other tablets enter the market and have more features and functions. But I decided to pontificate on why I think the Kindle is still a good option: 1) It's price has come down and entry is reasonable; 2) Having a 'reader' does get you to read more and spend more. I download more books than I ever purchased in the store, but I actually read them. Sampling books is a habit, I always read the sample and 95% of the time end up buying the book after the sample is done. 3) The Kindle still offers the battery life and 'simplicity' that is called for in a Reader. I'm never distracted while on it by ads or the need to surf off onto the net. I like that, it still has the calming effect that I want when I elect to read. Still a good option and I hope they do well in Holiday sales this year.
