Kevin Zahourek: Author of the book grew up in my hometown (Mountain Home, ID) and left to join the Navy...eerily similar, but I didn't float down the Yangtze River. Steve McQueen, Candice Bergen, Mako (excellent character actor) Richard Crenna and Richard Attenborough before the Queen called him "Sir"...made quite an impression on me when I saw it in Japan as an idealistic kid.

Kevin Zahourek: A fun reboot of the franchise...casting is well-done: no one else but Zachary Quinto could play Spock and Chris Pine made me forget William Shatner's halting cadence...Kirk got the crap beat out of him this flick!
