Ernesto Burden:
The most literary Western I've ever read. Beautiful and hideous; the violence in this book is devastating, and there many strange, oddly quiet moments of horror that simply take your breath away, all wrought in the most poetic, staggeringly powerful language. It's dense writing, and yet well worth the unpacking you'll have to do in some passages. A much slower read than The Road, but worth the journey.
