Graham King: Malaysian cuisine. Quite unlike anything else I have had from south-east Asia. More formal than I had expected, and the food was very spicy. If you've never had Malaysian cooking it's definitely worth a visit.

Jun Sushi photo
Graham King: A lot like all the other sushi shops. Good, fast, convenient, pretty cheap. Ideal for a quick lunch. They seem to have mostly wild salmon too.

Graham King: On the plus side excellent burger (really excellent) and good selection of beers.
On the con side it gets very busy, people hover at your table to claim it when you leave, and the door staff can get a bit enthusiastic.
Visit on a quiet afternoon, or maybe a Monday evening.

Graham King: French dive seafood restaurant (if that makes any sense), with excellent seafood and good drinking. Feels very old-Hollywood, a little-known gem. Great place to watch and interact with real Santa Monica locals.

Graham King: Much loved Mexican restaurant in Pasadena. Yucatan food, so different from the usual. Definitely worth a visit.

Graham King: Yes that's it's real name. A quaint (refurbished) old pub with old men, three taps of real ale, and delicious food. Well worth the detour.

La Crêpière photo
Graham King: French crepes (thin pancakes). I had a buckwheat (sarasin) one for main, with Reblochon, lardons, cream, onions and potatoes to start. For desert a sweet one slathered with Nutella. All of it washed down with copious dry cider (4.5% alcohol) served in little earthenware bowls. Delicious, and all very cheap.

The whole restaurant is run by a couple, the man in the kitchen and the woman somehow serving 10+ tables at once always with a smile.

It's on a pedestrian street on the edge of a pedestrian square, so great for kids, as they can run around outside without being in danger.

Soleil De Tunis photo
Graham King: Tunisien / French take-out with a few tables. Does couscous, panini, and "sandwich grecs" which are a kebab in a baguette, a very French snack. With chips. Great for lunch.

Huge portions, cheap prices, and even an authentically depressed Tunisien / French waiter. I'll be going back.

Baguette & Co. photo
Graham King: French Bakery and Patisserie. Breads, croissants, pain au chocolats, as well as various patisseries, quiche, sandwiches, pizza, and great value brownies.
Very good quality products at fair prices.
