Blood Meridian, or the Evening Redness in the West photo
Ernesto Burden: The most literary Western I've ever read. Beautiful and hideous; the violence in this book is devastating, and there many strange, oddly quiet moments of horror that simply take your breath away, all wrought in the most poetic, staggeringly powerful language. It's dense writing, and yet well worth the unpacking you'll have to do in some passages. A much slower read than The Road, but worth the journey.

Ernesto Burden: Fantastic martial arts movie, maybe my favorite of all time. Poetic, action packed and just plain outstanding.
Malcolm Lewis:
I had no idea you were a martial arts fan ;)

It Might Get Loud photo
Ernesto Burden: If you love guitar music, and even better, if you play guitar music, this one's worth watching. Jimmy Page, Jack White and The Edge. I especially get a kick out of the moments they're just fooling around, jamming, and not necessarily getting it perfect. Perfect. Available now on Netflix "watch it now" service.
Malcolm Lewis:
Good to know. I've had it queued up on Netflix Instant for a couple of weeks now. Just waiting for a chance to watch it.

Ernesto Burden: Hyper sentimental schmaltz under the gritty exterior, but pleasingly so.

Ernesto Burden: Extremely crude, but if you don't mind that, it's also very funny. Lots of '80s jokes, so if you have first-hand memories of that era all the better. John Cusack was a great casting choice for this...

A Caribbean Affair photo
Ernesto Burden: Worked from our Dow St. offices yesterday and had a chance to grab lunch and talk Web with folks from the parish at a homey little place called A Caribbean Affair on Elm St. Awesome tomato and red pepper soup, spicy jerk chicken, beans and rice. Highly recommend it.
